Municipal Code 10.18 (Utility Type Vehicles)
Includes the following vehicles and regulations:
- UTV width 40 to 70 inches, Four or more tires, Under 2200 lbs. and a steering wheel, side by side seating.
- NEV Electric Golf Cart - Speed under 25 mph, four or more tires, unmodified from factory, side by side seating and a steering wheel.
- PTV Gasoline Golf Cart or other - Speed under 25 mps, four or more tires, side by side seating and a steering wheel.
Requirements and Regulations
- Colorado Model Traffic Code shall apply.
- Operator must have a valid driver's license.
- Cannot be operated on US Highway 40 or Colorado Highway 9 except to cross.
- Vehicle will be registered according to Colorado law as a Tax Class C vehicle.
- NEV will require a Colorado motor vehicle registration.
- UTV and PTV will require an annual OHV registration or non-resident permit from Colorado Parks and Wildlife. (Available online or locally.)
- Operator must have a specific destination or destinations and take the most direct route.
- Must have a working horn.
Municipal Code 10.17 (Off-Highway Vehicles)
Includes the following vehicles and regulations:
- OHV Self-propelled vehicle on wheels or tracks designed for off-road recreation. This includes but is not limited to: ATVs and non DMV registered motorcylces and are not operated by a steering wheel. OHV does not include UTVs, NEVs and PTVs.
Requirements and Regulations
- Colorado Model Traffic Code shall apply.
- OHVs shall only be operated on Town Streets by use of the Off-Highway Designated Routes (see map) for the purpose to gain access to public land adjacent to the Town or for normal access to businesses and essential services on that route.
- Operator will drive/ride on the furthest right portion of the street.
- Operators ages 10 to 16 must be accompanied and immediately supervised by a valid licensed adult.
- No one under age 10 will be allowed to operate an OHV on the streets.
- Operators and riders under age 18 will wear a helmet and eye protection.
